www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) –The SUNY College at Old Westbury women's volleyball team fell in five sets (23-25. 25-20, 25-23. 16-25, 3-15) on the road atgaints the St. Joseph's-L.I. Golden Eagles Thursday evening from the Danzi Center. The Panthers fall to 4-2 in Skyline Conference action while falling 10-5 on the year. St. Joseph's-L.I. improved to 3-0 in conference play and 7-7 overall.
Tynisha George knocked down a season-high 14 kills to lead the offense.
Kimberly Catania stuffed the stat sheet with a personal-best 10 kills and four aces to go along with 10 digs to notch her first-career double-double. George added 10 digs to her 14 kills to post her first double-double of the season.
Kristina Giordano chipped in with her fourth double-double of the season, as she combined 23 assists and 17 digs.
Nancy Apollonio added 13 digs, her seventh double-digit dig performance of the season.
St. Joseph's-L.I. was paced by April Bennett's 22 kills and Megan Caiazzo's 48 assist-22 dig performance.
St. Joseph's-L.I. finished with 56 kills, a .195 hitting percentage, 14 service aces and one block. Meanwhile, Old Westbury earned 41 kills, a .146 hitting percentage, nine service aces, and two blocks. The Golden Eagles did pick up 78 defensive digs, while the Panthers collected 68 digs during the match.
YORK AND WILLIAM PATERSON UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury returns to the court for a non-conference tri-match on the road against the York Cardinals and William Paterson Pioneers Saturday (Oct. 1) in Wayne, New Jersey. Old Westbury opens with York at 1 p.m. and concludes with William Paterson at 3 p.m. from the William Paterson Recreation Center.
