www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) -The SUNY College at Old Westbury Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) is spearheading a canned food drive from November 8-22.Ā
Fans who attend Old Westbury athletic events will be able to donate non-perishable food items to Island Harvest.Ā Island Harvest, Long Island's largest hunger relief organization, strives "to end hunger and reduce food waste on Long Island," as noted in its mission statement.
Old Westbury student-athletes will be collecting non-perishable food items at four home athletic events: Fun Run/Walk on Nov. 8 (12 PM), women's swimming vs. St. Joseph's-L.I. on Nov. 12 (6 PM), men's and women's swimming vs. Purchase on Nov. 19 (6 PM) and women's basketball vs. CCNY on Nov. 20 (6 PM).Ā
Collection of canned goods is also available in the emain office suite of the Clark Athletic Center during office hours.
"The holiday season is a period of reflection for all of us.Ā With Thanksgiving fast approaching, the Old Westbury Student-Athlete Advisory Committee is excited to put its efforts towards helping Island Harvest to reach out to those who could use a lending hand" said Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance and Operations and SAAC Advisor
