OLD WESTBURY, NY
(www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) - The SUNY College at Old Westbury Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and Student Government Association (SGA) teamed up to host a 2.89 mile Turkey Trot run/walk on campus Friday afternoon.

All participants donated non-perishable food items as their required entry fee and were rewarded with a 2014 Turkey Trot t-shirt and a great feeling for helping feed locals at risk of hunger during the holiday season.  All donated items were delivered later in the afternoon to Island Harvest.

Island Harvest, Long Island's largest hunger relief organization, strives "to end hunger and reduce food waste on Long Island," as noted in its mission statement.

Sophomore Nick Giampietro ran the course in 18:20.30 to win first place.  Not long after, freshman Jonah Wegener (20:00.53), senior Cody Greene (20:22.21) and sophomore Sara Bey (25:54.13) crossed the finish line to round out the top-four finishers.

The mission of the NCAA and SUNY College at Old Westbury's SAAC is to enhance the total student-athlete experience by promoting opportunity, protecting student-athlete welfare and fostering a positive student-athlete image.
