PURCHASE, NY (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) - For the second consecutive year, the SUNY College at Old Westbury Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) took part in a community service project in conjunction with the Skyline Conference Fall Festival.

Each conference SAAC group held clothing drives on campus throughout the month of October.  Old Westbury's SAAC clothing drive lasted until November 7.  Collections were taken at home events and at the Clark Athletic Center from faculty, staff, fans and students at Old Westbury.

After setting up donation areas at Saturday's Skyline Conference men's and women's soccer and women's volleyball championship contests on the campus of Purchase College, the SAAC members sorted and packed up more than 30 boxes of donated clothing items.

The items were then distributed to various local shelters, including My Sisters' Place in nearby White Plains, New York.  Since 1976, My Sisters' Place (MSP) has worked to end violence in intimate relationships and combat the effects of domestic violence and human trafficking on women, men, and children throughout Westchester County.

Old Westbury's SAAC members Sara Bey, Cody Greene, Peter Sicardi and Caitlin Thomas participated in Saturday's event in Purchase, New York.

"I applaud our Student-Athlete Advisory Committee on taking a proactive approach to try and make a small difference in the lives of those who are victims of domestic violence," says Skyline Commissioner Linda Bruno.   "Community service was a priority of our directors of athletics when they developed the Fall Festival concept and I know this project will serve to be beneficial to everyone."
