Baseball Hosted Inaugural First Pitch Dinner on Friday Night; Doc Gooden Spoke with Current Players, Families and Alumni

OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. – The SUNY Old Westbury baseball program hosted their inaugural First-Pitch dinner to kick off the 2025 season on Friday night.

The dinner served as a fundraiser for the program for their upcoming campaign. All funds raised will go towards future events, equipment and apparel for the program.

The evening was filled with guest speakers, most notably, NY Mets Hall of Fame pitcher, Doc Gooden. Gooden spoke on his experience moving through the big leagues, winning multiple world series and provided advice to the current players in the program. Those in attendance had the opportunity to purchase raffles, take photos, and catch up with other members of the program.

Additionally, the 2015 OW Baseball team returned to campus for the event where they were honored and recognized on the 10-year anniversary of their Skyline Conference Championship victory.

SUNY Old Westbury baseball will kick off the season on February 20 on the road against Kean University. That game will begin at 3:30 PM
