Women’s Basketball Concludes the 2024-25 Season Against York

OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. – The SUNY Old Westbury women's basketball team fell to the York College Cardinals by a score of 55-37. 
 
The Panthers got out to an early 7-2 lead in the 1st quarter which the Cardinals responded with a 7-0 run to take the lead heading into the 2nd quarter at 9-7. 
 
Old Westbury would continue to fight back as the game went back and forth with a 18-16 York lead with 2:48 remaining in the 1st half. The Cardinals would close out the half strong eventually taking a 24-18 lead. Sakhmet Lewis led Old Westbury with nine first half points.
 
York would extend their lead in the third quarter to 10 early on but the Panthers fought back with an 8-4 run cutting the lead to 30-26 with 4:11 remaining in the third quarter.
 
The Cardinals would take control in the fourth with 10 straight points to open up play and would finish the game winning 55-37.
 
Sakhmet Lewis had 15 points for Old Westbury. Emma Rodriguez scored 11 points, hitting two threes. 
 
The Panthers conclude their 2024-25 season at home. Old Westbury will look to rebuild and prepare for the 2025-26 campaign.
