Student-Athlete Advisory Committee collected non-perishable food items during the annual Turkey Trot to feed locals at risk of hunger

OLD WESTBURY, NY --- (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), in association with Student Government Association (SGA) and the Center for Student Leadership and Involvement (CSLI), combined effort to host the annual Turkey Trot and Canned Food Drive on campus November 16.

All participant donated non-perishable food items as their required entry fee and were rewarded with a great feeling for helping feed locals at rusk of hunger during the holiday season.  All collected items were delivered to Island Harvest to support its Turkey and Trimmings Collection Campaign (click here for more information), which runs November 1-December 30.

In total, Old Westbury collected 258 pounds of non-perishable food items for Island Harvest.

Island Harvest, Long Island's largest hunger relief organization, strives "to end hunger and reduce food waste on Long Island," as noted in its mission statement.
